Foraging for wild foods/hunting

This summer I picked cattail shoots - I never knew they were edible, and they really do taste like bitter cucumbers!

I chopped up the white part and some of the green, and we ate some and froze the rest in the freezer.

Cattails are abundant in my area of Western Quebec.

The other night I cooked almost a 100%, less than 100-km meal, with moose from my uncle's moose hunt; kale from my boyfriend's family's garden; raspberries from a local farm; and cattail shoots found foraging less than 1 km from home!
